DSP in fuge w/a small footprint
I've read Ron Shimek's papers on DSBs and found post where he recommends at 4 sq. ft. Is that "exposed" surface area?
I'm setting up a new tank and I'm considering a DSB in my fuge - footprint is about 12" x 12". But I don't want to waste my time if this is too small. Anyone have experience with small footprints?

IMO a 12x12 DSB on a 110g tank is a waste of time. You would be better off just keeping the fuge barebottom and siphoning it out regularly. You wont see that much benefit from that footprint. But, that same footprint full of detritus will contribute to nutrient problems.
