mixing water in advance

If I mix my water a few days before the water changes, is it ok to just give it a good stirring before or am I supposed to always have a pump running to keep in constantly moving and why?

Its good to keep a pump in it so that it stays aerated.

Some salt mixes (Reef Crystals come to mind) have organic additives in them that will grow bacteria if you don't keep them stirred.

Most salt mixes don't. Those can be made up and left to sit for years and years without doing anything until you are ready to use them. Then give them a few hours with a PH to aerate it, bring it to temp, and go for a water change.

I keep this 32 gal brute full and aerating all the time. I usually do 5 gal water changes then I just to it off with salt and water. It's good to have the ability to do an almost 50% water change instantly.

Thanks...I do use reef crystals so guess I better get something to aerate. Can anyone recommend a good pump (but inexpensive) to use in a 18G bucket... thanks!
