Need a Electrician
I have a question. I saw a cheap powerhead I am wanting to get for curing some live rock and maybe mixing salt and if it works good i might use on my tank anyways it is 220-240v. I was curious if I could buy a converter like the link below and this would work the way it supposed to. This would save me like 20 bucks so not a big deal but for what I am using it for thought it might be worth a shot.
Thanks http://www.ebay.com/itm/50W-AC-Power...item19c5a36f60 |

Why? You can get a 1300gph new powerhead for $28. That one will also run faster as it was designed for 50 cycles and we are 60 cycles.
I see no logic in your decision!

And I wouldn't trust a $1.60 power adaptor to convert 110 to 220 anywhere inside my house!

Gate I have made no decision. I appreciate your input. I saw a cheap powerhead on eBay for 8 bucks. It was like 1600 gph. I was going to use it for mixing salt. I am confused why this wouldn't work well enough will 50 be enough for just mixing salt.
I wouldnt get that particular converter. I would find one with three prong. Thanks again everyone. |

This is one of those cases of penny wise and dollar foolish. How much will it cost you when that $1.60 voltage converter catches fire?
Why can't you just go to petco (or wherever) and buy the cheapest powerhead they have? Can't be more then $15 bucks and will mix salt just fine. |
