Water top off system
I need to find a good system that can automatically top off my tank due to evaporation. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to best accomplish this? I found Reefkeeper Elite or the JBJ Automatic Top Off (A.T.O.) System but I have no references to base it on.
Thanks ahead Last edited by Katar1975; 12/14/2011 at 01:47 PM. |

Were the snails that big of a problem to get the guard?

I found one I am going to purchase which sounds very dependable since it does not use any moving float sensors.

Thanks I bought the Elos OsmoController and I love it. No moving floaters to worry about so cleaning is not as big of an issue as others but thanks.

the elos looks nice, but for the price the jbj is a deal. Did the elos come with a pump ??

I have heard too many bad situations from other folks who have used the JBJ. I considered it until I read about it getting stuck or the sensors getting snails into them, even with the filter screen. Just my two cents, the elos is more pricy but no moving parts means no hassles with cleaning the moving parts to avoid possible problems.

I have had mine for three months and it has not failed once with no maintenance needed other than the usual salt creep going up the sensor line but everything gets creep over time. I only clean it for aesthetic purposes not because it needs it.

It comes with the pump, which I must say is pretty powerful considering its size, and sensor to attach. All you need is the output hose but everyone has different types of hose they like to use. I used a typical transparent hose 1/2 inch I think, I can't remember the size exactly, and I added a spout to control output. Other than that it was set and forget. I also like the manual pump button which I use to refill my tank when I do the water changes. Instead of having to lift the 5 gallon containers I place the pump in the container and press the button. It fills the tank up at a comfortable rate and the fish do not get agitated with me hovering over them like some monster.
