has anyone used RapidLEDS?

I'm looking to add an LED set up to my FOWLR tank for hte look and possible addition of corals in the future. My question is if anyone used RapidLEDS plug and play retrofit kits? Which ones did you use? How many LEDS did you use and how simple was it? Also if you bought a seperate heatsink, where did you buy it from? I'm looking for a length of about 3' for the unit.

i bought 12 xpg cw 18 xpe rb daylight controller i used aluminum u channel
have had absolutely no problems very low amp draw or watts used
only thing is you gat what some people call a disco ball effect because of so many points of light you are going to have to experiment for yourself everyone is a little different

Do a forum search for "rapidLED" - there are several great build threads with different set-ups, including the retrofit kits.

I myself had one for my 29g BC but my soldering was a royal disaster. The guys at Rapid were helpful every step of the way, even when I got angry and ranted. :-) Given that, I would most certainly use them again.

I didn't use optics on mine to avoid that. Maybe a little less par, but everything is growing and looks great.

How many LEDs would be good for my 65g 36" long? Should the unit be just as long as tank or slightly shorter?

I depends on what you are keeping, and what amperage you run them at. You should be fine with 36 over a 40. I left 6" unlight on the ends.
