mag 9 drain help!
i read somewhere (really dont remember) that the drain size to accamodate an mag 9 would have to be at least 1.5", is that true? because I have 2 x 1" drains, would that be fine for a mag 9?

It really depends on head loss, turns and piping you use....Im using a mag 7 on a 90G, that pumps about 4 feet high, with a single overflow drain...works fine....to calculate head loss you can use the calculator on ReefCentral's main page

siphon drain and after head loss its pumping close to 700 GPH, will 2 x 1" drains be able to handle that much flow?

2 drains are fine...actually preferable b/c you have less chance of both failing, leaving you with a puddle to clean up.
Quick suggestion, make one drain a little taller then the other (so that it becomes a backup if you do start to overflow) |
