Filter sock ??
Started using a sump for the first time and ordered a filter sock with bracket. Tank is up and running for a bit now and did not add the sock for fear of nitrates. Pro's and cons would be appreciated.
Thanks

pros: can make your water very clear
cons: can turn into an inline detritus teabag

I run one and I like that it filters out random bits of stuff that gets into the tank like flys, bits of styrofoam, dog hair, and other junk like that.
But, I've been wondering how much of a dent it puts in pod population, and it is definately no fun to clean because it barely fits and is a pain to remove from my sump. I'm going to leave mine until I find a good reason to remove it. I like it. |

I had a bracket it no longer fits with my new bigger Skimmer. I just got a draw string type sock now and suspend it into place with another string.
