WTB: aragonite gravel anyone selling new/used?
Hi, I need some aragonite gravel crushed coral...
Does anyone have some lying around they'd like to sell me? Ideally I don't want to pay full price at the LFS... Thanks! PM me!

Sand
I've got 40lbs of Aragonite pre-rinsed sand I'm not going to use(only needed 80lbs). great stuff. I'll sell it to you for 28.00. I paid 35. Still in the bag and box it came in.

Gravel
No problem. I had about a 4in sand bed in the old tank but I'm only going with about 2 for the new one. I've always had a wrasse who hides in the sand and I keep a diamond goby who does a great job of cleaning the sand bed.

Hey Steve what nightmares did you have with your DSB because I have one and I would like to keep any possible concerns in mind.
Thanks |

Pnavarro--I'm setting up a tank I had custom built by aquarium concept. 4x2x1 with some rocks out of the water.
Katar--after a while, you will start to see gray layers or striations within your DSB. These are layers of organic material that are unable to be decomposed by the different bacteria whithin the DSB. These layers build up ammonia and anaerobic conditions within the DSB. If then disturbed significantly, you may release a toxic cloud of doom into your tank... look up DSB crashes or expired DSB. Thanks

I probably would not do a sand bed in an acrylic tank since it scratches so darn easily.

Thanks for the info Steve I will research how to keep the sand alive without causing too much of a problem.
