Starting a Frag Tank!
Okay, so I've made some plans to start a frag tank. All I've really got to start things out is a 150 gallon stock/Rubbermaid tank and a few modded powerheads.
Here's a list of things I need: Sump: thinking about getting a 30 or 40 gallon storage/Rubbermaid bin Skimmer: ??? I'm not sure which to get. Currently I run a Euroreef RS180 on my 210 gallon and that seems to run great, but if there's something better out there that'd be great, so long as it's not too expensive. Reefkeeper Lite: Will also help with auto-topping off and keeping my temps stable. Return Pump: I have 2 brand new Seio Superflow M1500 1500gph pumps Heaters: Definitely going titanium probably 1-500watt or 2-300watts Lighting: I have a Dual Hamilton 175 watt retrofit system. I'd have to figure a way to fit it over the system but I'm sure I'd make it happen. I'm primarily going to be buying everything used so if you guys have anything you're looking to get rid of it'd help a ton. This tank is going to store mainly LPS and softies, but a few hardy sps frags here and there. My questions are: 1. Is my lighting sufficient. If i could put my halides to use that'd be perfect. 2. Should I run both pumps as returns at 3000gph or just the one? 3. What skimmer should I get? I'm looking to spend no more than $200 new or used. 4. Live sand in the sump with live rock? Here's a picture of my 210g display tank just to share: ![]()
