biggest size tank that will fit under a standard 75 gallon stand
What is the biggest size tank that will fit under a standard 75 gallon stand. I am just trying get the most room out of a sump. I realize I may only be able to have the sump half full in case the tank overflows my sump will be able to hold the water.

Give us the inner dimensions of your stand and opening. Also are you going to be willing to disassemble or cut/modify your stand to get it in? I had to cut my stand just to get a 30 gallon in there because the opening front and back were so narrow.

I am not willing to mod the stand. I dont want the DT to end up on the floor.
I got some ruff dimentions are 45L x 15w x 23 h. I dont plan on storing anything in the stand so I like to use as much of it as posible I just need to be able to do my regular maintance of the sump and skimmer. I also plan on having a refugeum. |

I am thinking a 20 long would be the biggest tank I could fit in there with out cutting the stand.

Biggest off the shelf tank I could fit was a 20 long. If you go custom, of course it could be much bigger. I had to take my stand apart to get the 20 in there, but did not have to modify the stand as it is one of those particle board, screw together type. Still not sure how it holds all the weight!

A 38 gallon is 36 1/4L x12 5/8W x19 3/4H. If you put the skimmer in before you put the sump under the tank it could work but you won't be able to change skimmers.

A 55 isn't gonna fit, it's the same length as the 75 is - 4ft.
I had a 20 long in mine and it took up most of the space, I had just enough room left for some power strips and the media reactors.

a 20 long is to long if your tank is right next to the wall. a 20 long wont make the turn under a 3 door 125 galon stand due to the narrowness (probably not a word) of the tank/stand.

The biggest with that footprint is ganna be a 30L 36"x12"x12". It will alow enough room to mantain skimmer and get othe equipment in/out. You may have to have lfs order one as stores don't usally stock them but it is a standard size tank.
