Vertex skimmer - new micro bubbles

Maybe someone can tell me why this happened...

My 90Gal Reef Start up is about 2.5 months old. It has been running great. Skimmer and Tunze top-off running like a top. Good skimmate! Last night i decided to go from a 7" Filter Sock to a 4" because my Refugium is too small for the 7" and it is a pain to change every couple of days. So I shut the Skimmer, Top-off, and return pump off to change the sock system and plumbing. Got the Sock in and the return pump back on no problem but when I turned the Vertex skimmer back on I got millions of micro bubbles shooting out of the skimmer output pipe?? I thought maybe it got moved and a the pump was loose but nothing. I tried everything last night. Nothing worked. It filled my whole tank with bubbles and the fish were going nuts. My Powder Blue Tank which has been fat and happy for weeks now this morning is showing signs of ich. Not worried about that I can get that under control but had to leave the skimmer off. I took the pump out and am running it in a vinegar/water mix to see if just shutting it off for 30 minutes jammed something up? Anyone else have this problem? Could it be the new filter sock. I rinsed it but....

100% its the sock. New filter socks will make skimmers go bonkers, you need to wash them a few times (no soap, just run thru the cycle) before you use them. My Vertex turns into a water cannon if you put a new sock in the system without rinsing, but any other skimmer will do the same thing. Must be a residue on the sock of some sort.

Thanks for your help! I thought it must be the sock. Only thing new I added. I put the old 7" sock in and ran the skimmer pump in vinegar/water for the night. Working again like a champ! Thanks again!
