Is my eheim 1260 return overkill for my 70g cube + 15g sump?
I just set up a 70g cube and am building my 15g sump right now. I have the tank running with a 10g as a temp sump so I could test the return and plumbing before my sump is finished. Maybe it's just the small size of the 10g sump, but it seems like the ehiem is putting out a lot of flow... Maybe too much. I have a ball valve plumbed in, but if I need to throttle it that much, would I be better off with a 1250?
The sump im building will be for a swc 120 cone skimmer, small LR/fuge section and a return section. The return does not feed any other equipment. tl;dr: Is my 1260 too much flow for my 15g sump? Last edited by Radioheadx14; 04/02/2012 at 08:57 PM. Reason: Title typo |

I have a 1260 on a 55g/15g sump with a little BP Shorty Reactor and about 3" of head and it's perfect.
