Help wanted - 70 Gallon Corner Black w/1 overflow

anyone has any experience with this tank ? I am curious about front distortion ?

My current tank is a 55g corner. If I could do it again, I would not get a corner tank. The corner tank is very hard to get the proper flow in, very hard to aquascape in a friendly manner, and limits your choices on fish as swimming room becomes limited very quick. Did I mention HOW HARD it will be to get flow? I have 3 powerheads in my 55 and I still have dead spots where Cyano likes to creep up once in a while. Getting light fixtures to reflect evenly across is a pain in the butt (I use a 36" fixture across with a smaller bulb in the back to catch the areas that don't get much light). Also good luck fitting much under the stand, I can only fit a 10g under my 55g corner whereas with a 55g rectangle I'd have been able to fit a 30g tall.

As for picture distortion, for regular viewing you won't notice much different. But good luck taking pictures, it becomes difficult. Ask anyone who has a corner tank, or even a rectangle bowfront tank.

Not to mention corner tanks are expensive. The price I got my 55g corner w/stand and canopy off a local reef club member (300$) I could have easily gotten a 120 w/stand and canopy. And now that I'm upgrading again, I wish I had.

I'd be more worried about accessibility behind the tank.

And for me, when I do look at one, the view is odd because of the refraction. Same reason it maybe hard to take photos. As fish move, they seem to get smaller and vanish unless you change your vantage point. (Only going by the one I saw at the LFS, your results may vary)

I hated the bow on my nano tank. Even though the curvature wasnt that bad, it did distort viewing somewhat...and I always preferred to look through the side.

As for photography...hated hated hated the bowed glass.

Will never buy a bow front tank again.
