How high should new lights be (250w radiums)?

I'm upgrading the lighting over my 40 breeder sps tank. I'm going from dual 150w Phoenix 14k's to dual 250w radiums in lumenarc mini's. The 150's are currently about 8" from the waters surface. How high should I mount the 250's? I'm keeping high light sps from top to bottom.

I would keep the lights like 18" high to acclimate the corals to the new light then weekly lower it back to 8"
