ID pest or good coral please
I put in a small piece of live rock w/ coralline algae in my DT about wk ago. Now out of no where there are these tiny 1/8 in long stalks w/ 5 or 6 fingers coming out. They have a green tint on the ends of the fingers but might be a reflection of my led lights. Can anyone tell if these are pest anenomes or other kinds of pests and if I should get rid of em before they spread? Thanks. Pic is kind of blurry bec I haven't figured out how to get my digital camera to focus through aquarium glass. Thanks.

Gsp? They're harmless, but you do need to keep an eye on them though. They can be manicured in the right hands...

Green star Polyps. I have them in my tank. Real pretty when they fill in nicely. Fast growers though.

I'm not sure what they are, but green star polyps grow as a leather like "skin" over your rocks, that is when the polyps are closed.
It's sort of skin coloured by the way. If that is what you have, GREAT.... I love mine, they're a real eycatcher in my tank, and yes, they grow pretty fast. I got mine from a guy who "pruned" his and sold me that piece. Hope this helps and good luck |
