White cloudy water?
I have had my BC29 set up for a total of 2 months now with the first month being the cycle.
I have one fish, 1 cleaner shrimp, and about 30+ tiny snails for a CUC, aquaticlife 115 skimmer, Intank media basket with filter floss in chamber 2, MJ1200 return pump, 2 Koralia nano 425's alternating. The water started out crystal clear for about 3 weeks, and recently it has a cloudy appearance to it. I thought it was microbubbles at first, but looking closer I can see tiny tiny things floating in the water column and an overall cloudy hazy look to the tank. This started about a week after my CUC arrived eating the diatoms. I have read it could be a bacterial bloom? Any other ideas? i would say bacterial bloom. It could be a massive copepod explosion but i would say this is unlikely and lean towards bacterial bloom. hows your feeding? I know when i had mine it was cause i fed the tank to high the beginning and not enough to eat everything. That being said i did through a uv on it and it cleared up in about 2 days and hasnt come back. I only run the UV now for 3hr per night

Ok, good to know.
I only feed the tank every 2-3 days so I didn't think that was a problem. I do however have a TON of copepods on the glass. I was thinking they might have had something to do with it. I see what happens over the next week. |
