FoaM rock wall question!!! Please help!

Question I am having is , as you all know or seen post by me in the past
I am setting up a 57 gallon deep blue tank. I have everything I need except stand power head & return pump. Besides that I am interested in covering my overflow with a foam Rock wall.

Is there anybody here on rc that can guide me in the right direction .

I am aware I need to use egg crate but do I put a piece of acrylic over my overflow? Then put the egg crate over that? Also how do I get sand to stick to the foam? And what objects do I use to have hole I can put frag plugs in?
I plan on painting the back glass black but I would love to have a nice foam rock wall covering the center over flow.

Can someone help me. Please
Can you tell me what supplies I will need & how to do this.

Thanks.

Tank measurements are 36x18x20
Thanks again.

I did the same thing with a 75 gal with built in a overflow. In a quick nutshell....I started by cutting the light defuser to size for the back of the wall and then two pieces to wrap around the overflow box. I placed rock pieces how I wanted them on the defuser, and then used the Pond Foam (UV resistant) to spray all through the defuser and around the rocks to hold them in place. After that hardened I carved the shapes I wanted (holes, caves, overhangs, etc). I then used a two part marine epoxy and basicly painted it on. Before it dried (which is quickly) I hand tossed sand on it to give it the rock look. From there just cut and shaved as needed to get it to fit into place. Again that's a very quick nutshell overview, but this thread should help. It was actually really easy, worked very well and looks amazing. I made ledges and overhangs to place frags on, create hides for fish, etc.
Good luck, have fun!
