Ok, so thanks to Mike in Meriden my daughters livestock is all sold. Now its time to get some of the livestock out of my 220. The first guy I need gone is my stingray. If you have a big tank (reef, fowlr, or aggressive) 180 or bigger with a bunch of open sandbed and is interested let me know. It is about a foot long from nose to tail and the body is about an 8"-10" circle.

$80 for the stingray

What type of stingray is that? Diet? danger to anything in a typical reef?

Its a california stingray about a foot long. I feed it a mix of krill and silversides. Its in my mixed reef now and he hasnt bothered any fish, corals, or inverts. I feed him once a day and he sees very happy.

That stingray is cool. I have a 180 but not enough open sand for it. What a great fish.

It is very tempting. And I do have a decent amount of open space in my tank. I do have a ton of small pebbles from the sand I used in my tank that I think would irritate the stingrays skin though...

I have a shot of it in the mtc's thread about the caribsea sand... it would be a ton of work to remove all thepebbles. and i dont think i could offer a long term home. dont those grow up to 2 feet?

I think if you include the length of the tail they can get up to about 18" but the round body will get to around a 12" circle. I knew that this guy was gonna be a bit difficult to get rid of. I might have to bring it back to my lfs and see if i can trade it for something, lol.

I just worry i cant give it a good home... you can see in my avatar i have some decent free space and i plan on pulling all the rocks on the right side anyway and redoing it

Lol. I think you have more open sandbed than I do. Your tank has the same foot print as mine I think, 72x24 right? I think my tank is just a few inches taller. All I have open is the middle section and the 2 sides are mostly full of rocks. If you take out the rocks on the right side you should have plenty of room. I think in my tank, by piling the rocks up in the corners, left about a 3' section of open sand in the middle and thats about it and it looks like he has plenty of room to do his thing. If you are curious about how it will be you should take a ride up my way and check it out.

Lol. If I cant get him in the biggest net I have I will probably just stick the whole bucket in the tank and chase him into it. It shouldnt be to hard, at least in my head its not to hard, lol

I do have the same foot print... but i havent decided what i want to do with the right side of my tank... i want a column of some sort so i can get more sps and such... maybe a high bridge... i have the potential for more sand space... i think i would have to see it in your tank swimming to feel that my tank would work

I could probably head out sunday afternoon/evening. But I am nowhere near ready to add it to my tank. I was planning on redoing the rocks on the side of my tank next week... Then I would need to figure out to skim the pebbles out of my tank.

I have a mandarin and also had a spider conch until it fell between a few rocks and I didnt notice until it was to late. The stingrays mouth is very small and as long as ive had him I have never even seen him attempt to go after anything.
