Help with worm ID
Hey all
I was just doing a visual inspection on my tank after feeding and found this monster worm in the corner. ![]() Its about 12" (30cms) long. Any idea what it is? I have currently removed it from the tank and am wondering if its a safe one or a trash on thanks

Looks like a common bristleworm, I pulled 3 out of my tank the same size as that, it's a pretty good picture though so if it is anything else or worse someone will be able to identify it further.

Looks like a common bristleworm to me. They are pretty compatible with most all mixed reefs. Many see tham as beneficial, some don't. I think they are OK, but that one is pretty good size. In a smaller tank, I'd say keep it out, in your 75g tank, I could go either way. In my 180g, I'd keep it, but I have lots of LR for it to live in... heck, I may have some bigger than that one in mine and haven't ever seen it!

We have plenty just like that (not 12" yet, but they'll get there). If we can catch the big ones, we do. Our tank is only a 55. Beneficial, but when you're an overfeeder like me they can get out of hand in a smaller tank.
