Tigger copepods

Im thinking of buying some tiggerpods to supplement my current pod population. I read that they can eat other types of copepods. Do I need to worry aboiut the tiggerpods overtaking the other pods in my tank and wiping them out?

From what I have heard they do not last long as they are a colder water species but do make a nice live meal.

It isn't that they are colder water. They live in tide pools where the temperature goes well above the standard reef tanks, even if it is generally colder in the ocean outside.

It is more that they don't have a concept of self-preservation. Put them in a refugium and they'll reproduce as much as they can (assuming the flow doesn't force the whole population out). Once they hit the display though their survival becomes very unlikely.

Not sure if they actually eat other copepods or not. The problem with judging that is that a lot of amphipods/copepods that are thought to eat others don't necessarily actually eat the other types. They are all competing for the same food and if one is better they'll tend to wipe out the others through pure competition. The Tigger pods may not eat the other pods, but they may out compete them giving how much more outgoing (also know as "suicidal") they are.

Tiger Pods make a great food for fish. Most pods hide and are hard to see, Tiger Pods swim out in the open and are easy to see making them a easy meal for all fish. You can grow them in containers, I thought they had posted different ways to grow them on there website
