Should I use an old tank or buy new?

I have a 90 gallon Oceanic drilled bottom with built in overflow box. It has a label that says May 2005. I bought this used from a guy a few years ago and I had it set up for about 1 1/2 years. Its has been sitting empty for about a year now. I kind of want to get it going again but am nervous about its age and maybe the silicone getting dry from sitting empty for so long. Thinking about selling this tank and getting a custom built one, maybe starfire glass or acrylic.

you can fill it to do a leak test. However if you have a new one built are you thinking bigger or just looking for something you know is new?

I know it does not leak. I would probably get the same size maybe bigger if I sold the tank and stand for a good price. I want something scratch free and new I guess. How much do you think a 90 gallon Oceanic reef tank with nice real wood stand and canopy with an older Hamilton Tech. light 2 175watt halides with 2 48" VHO be?

My brother-in-law has a Oceanic 55 since 95. The new Oceanic are not the same because they are made by a different company, if you want quality go with DSA (people who used to work for the Original Oceanic) Not to knock Oceanic but I don't like companies who buy a smaller company just for the name and then move it

If you want the same size, I would save some money and use the tank you already have but if you wanted to upgrade I would get a new one

Are there any deep scratches? I wouldn't worry about the light ones, your going to end up with them at some point and you can't see them when its filled with water. If there deep scratches from the previous owner sell and get used for sure. At least it would save you some money unless your shooting for your "dream" tank, your going to probably upgrade anyways.
