First water change for a new reef tank
Hi guys,
I have 125g reef tank that I started on April 18, 2012. The sycle is complete, and I was wondering when do I have to do the first water change (After how many days)? I have some bright Green algae with some brown hair algae getting worse every day for the last five days. My parameters are: PH 8.2, Amonia 0, Nitrite 0, nitrate between 10 to 20, Alkalinity 11, Calcium 380, Phosphate almost 0.25. Please let me know, and thanks in advance |

you can do a 10-20% now to lower nitrates and phos.....but you also need to run some gfo to get rid of the phos..less than .03 is the goal and that will take care of the algae

Yes, I did. I have about 160g of live rocks, and most of it is Pukani live rock.

Premix the water and use a powerhead to move water. Let mix a few hours. Removing water then slowling adding new water.
