Something Very Weird...
hi all,
i have a fluval edge 23l in the kitchen my mum called up to me saying "the anemone is eating the hermit crab!" i went downstairs to find an anemone holding the body of a red hermit crab, with his shell next to the anemone, i put my hand in and picked the shell up, but the red hermit crab was still in there? i took the hermits body out and it was definitely a hermit crab body, but in the tank we have 2 hermits, which have been in there for 1 and a half weeks. one of them is red and moving, and one of them is blue and moving.there are no fish in this tank just 2 hermits and 2 snails. i am really puzzled about this body, so what could it be, help thanks

I had the same thing with a horse shoe crab back in 02'. I had taken and tossed the original shell. So when there was a new bigger horseshoe crab in my tank I accused my friends of breaking in and putting one in.
I went to my LFS and asked them which one of my friends bought one (we all used the same one). They kept a straight face for about 15 minutes and then all cracked up. Joke was on me.

I did the same thing with a fire shrimp back in the day... I was new to reefing and put the shrimp in the tank as the new prized addition, only to mourn over his molted shell for a few hours till I found him perched on a magfloat... lol good times
