Is clear vinyl tubing safe for reef aquarium?
***Found My answer in a search*** The posts recommend using the black tubing, to prevent algae growth.

I know you've found your answer, but I have to disagree about the black tubing and algae. Clear is fine in most cases, as most of the tubes are inside the cabinet and away from light. All my return and drain tubings, as well as tubing to my remote refugium, are clear vinyl. Over two years now, and there is no algae, repeat, NO algae in my tubes. .
I'm in the Canton area, so you are about an hour from me. You are welcome to come check it out.

Did you say, "No algae in your tubes?"
That's good to know. I may give the clear a try and see. Spa Flex is anything but flexible!!

Yup, that's what I said. Twice!! LOL!!. For 2 years and running. They get a brownish slime coating inside, very thin, at the beginning, and that's it. I'm sure you'll find the same coating inside a black tubing or SPA.
