Hurricone cat 2 and reef octopus extreme 300
A neighbor is breaking down his aquarium and he was the type to have multiple backups. He is willing to sell me his 2 used reef octopus extreme 300 and used hurricone category 2 skimmer for 200 dollars each. I currently have an ASM G3 on my 135 gallon setup so I wouldn't need them for that. But in about 2-3 years I'll be planning to setup a massive 500-800 gallon aquarium (haven't nailed down the exact gallonage; dream scenario is over 1000 but doubt it). I prefer to run multiple skimmers incase something were to happen to one I still have partial skimming going on.
My question is should I jump on this deal? These skimmers seem to go for about 500-700 dollars a pop and all seem good for significant gallonage with the cat 2 going at ~325 gallons; and the extreme 300s going at 425 gallons. I know that these are discontinued models but from what I read on the big skimmer thread people seem to enjoy them. Would love some input.
