Gonna need a new skimmer, but which one? Please help!!
I have a 120 g DT with 40 g sump running about 120g total water. It is currently stocked with 8 x 2 to 4 inch fish, and 30 + corals or various sizes, but most are still small at this point. The tank has been up about 16 months. It is time to admit my old skimmer (which was purchsed used) is starting to die. So, I need a replacement. My short list at this point is more or less.
Super reef octopus xp2000 Super Reef Octopus xp3000 Vertex Alpha 200 Personally, I am not convinced the Vertex is worth the extra $$, so I was kinda down to the 2000 or 3000. I have gotten conflicting advice on getting the sro xp2000 vs the sro xp3000. Please help! Or other Skimemr suggests would be great. |

I just got Skimz Monzter 201 E-series skimmer to replace my old Vertex on my 120gal. system. I am extremely happy with it performance so far. It took 2 days to brake in but now 5 days later it is a monster. It produces thick, almost black skimmate and the best thing about it ,it is completely quiet. I have my tank in my living room and now the loudest thing are my Vortech pumps.
