Frustrated with my Apex!!
I am very overwhelmed after reading the manual. I didn't really understand anything it said and I think I am in way over my head with my new Apex controller. The only outlets that seem to work are the two relay outlets. The only thing that works on the other outlets is my mag 9.5 return pump. My skimmer, 2 125W Eheim Jager heaters, and ATO pump do not work on the 5A outlets. What a waste of money this thing was.

Did you read the unofficial user manual? If not you should download and read that.

I wouldn't call it a waste of money just because you are not familiar with it....
The guide is here, it is very thorough and should get you going.

I agree with the above, Bigfish. The manual is okay, but the Unofficial Guide is priceless. The guide helped me getting up and running in less than an hour. With a little more tweaking, using the guide got me emailed emergency alerts, text messaged emergency alerts, and access to my Apex from anywhere out side of my network with internet access.
Also, the guide literally has a step-by-step section on setting up your Apex.

Once you get over the hump of some basic concepts, your Apex purchase will likely prove the best reef investment you've made. But it DOES take some learning first, and the Unofficial User Guide will help.

Hey, don't feel bad! I was a programmer for many years, and a lot of Neptune's documents didn't make sense to me upon first read. So the problem I'd not with you@
Fortunately its not with the product either. Its a FABULOUS product! But some of the configuration is hard to wrap your head around - at least in the manner that Neptune has chosen to present it. Give the Unofficial Guide a good shot, and if you still have questions, I'm sure a post in the Neptune forum will yield the answers you need.

I've been very happy with mine, I'll look at the unofficial guide but I was able to set mine up right away. It defaults the outlets on the power bar 8 so if you plug in to those default outlets you can just adjust the controls as needed. I renamed and reset the outlets that were not what I wanted. I agree the guide can be intimidating at first but it is very detailed.
If you have a local club there may be a member that can help you get started. Once you have it running it's really cool to be able to monitor on an iPhone or at work.

The unofficial guide will help you alot but you have to devote the time to reading it which can be frustrating when trying to do something in a weekend. I did some youtube searches and found a video ( i dont have a link unfortunately ...) that showed how you create a profile and then apply that profile to an outlet. However you are going to have to read the section on outlets to understand how the apex refers to the different modules and the outlets on each module.

I tinkered with my APEX for some time and got the majority of it working. I just found it overwhelming to fine tune the AI ramping, Break out box setting for the top off, and configure all of the security shut-off settings that I wanted.
So I bought a ProFilux 3EX.... I learned that no matter which controller you buy, you will have to eventually just sit down and dedicate some time on how to program it. Once you do you will begin to "See The Matrix" so to speak and it will all start making more sense to you.

My display keeps fading to all white and I can't read anything on it. I am assuming that this is not normal. Do I have to change something in the programming?

I'm pretty lame when it comes to this stuff and it took me a good many hours to get this thing going correctly. Well worth the effort, but there definitely was effort involved. I had help from Cobra9 and Paul at Neptune. Both were very patient and helpful and I don't think I could have got it going without help.

I was having issues with ghost outlets and updating the firmware, but a 20 minute call to Neptune Systems fixed everything. They were fantastic.
