Can i run my Aquarium on ONLY Blue t5 ??

Hi guys.

Like it says. Can i?

See the thing is. I own a Aquael Reefmax 110l . And i has std. 3 t5 24w . (2 white, and 1 blue) .

But the blue holder is broken. I bought a new lamp because i thought that was the problem, but it isnt. I also tested both blue lamps, where the white normally is.

And it looks so cool !!

Can i run with only blue ? the light is from 4-500nm. So should be able to grow corals underneath.

But what about my little fishi??

thank you for helping.!

I run one of my mixed reef tanks with 2 bulbs for over 4 years.
T5 54 watt
1 ATI blue plus and
1 Koralin Zucht Super Blue.

Works great.
Before this bulb combo which I like a lot I ran
1 ATI blue plus and
1 ATI true atcinic
All fish and coral are great!!
Keep In mind this is on a 70 gallon tank

Blue is pretty natural wavelength in reefs since they're often 30+ feet deep.

It'll really depend on the intensity of the bulb. Try it for awhile, and if you notice any negative effects, switch it back. Nothing you do here is irreversible.

I think it'll be fine.

you can blue only, but you will either need to jackup the intensity or grow deep water animals.

Good luck taking pics I have my white LEDs kick dim down two hours earlier than my royal blues, blues, and UV and definitely a fluorescent look! Fish do not look good at all IMO with blues only.

Yes, just use quality bulbs and you will be fine. You will not see all of the potential colors of the corals though.

I'd get an ATI blue+ and a Fiji or purple plus. It will bring out the reds but won't wash out the blue.

For pictures you just have to set your white balance appropriately.
