Been to long!

Ok it's been almost two years since I've had my tank running. We moved and I had to tear it down. I told myself I was done so it just sat in the living room for almost 2 years. Started watching the show Tanked on animal planet and it has renewed my interest in the hobby.

What brings me here today is filtiration, I know the pros of a sump but I wanted a little less hassle and something a little easier then re plumbing my tank. What are the thoughts of the fluval fx5 on a FO tank with very little if any coral? The tank is 210g. As far as cycling a tank with a canister would I run the canister with all the media or just run it empty simply for water movement? Thanks for your time everybody.
