AccliMate actually does work as a fish trap!
I have been trying to come up with a way to catch a medium sized Blue Tang that is fast and doesn't like nets. I had bought an AccliMate by Reef Gently a couple of months ago to acclimate new tanks mates.
I tried it a few days ago by putting a whole frozen food cube and letting it float inside the acrylic box held up with suction cups on the glass. It didn't work as the tang just waited until the food floated out. Well, I decided to tip the box, put a silverside tied to rubble with a rubber band and....voila! The tang was in the box within 2-3 minutes, I let the trap door fall and had him in the box on the first try. Since he was getting too big for my tank, I took him to the LFS and got a nice credit. If you want to get a nice trap that also works as a low stress transporter and acclimation chamber, get one of the AccliMates.
