Starting on new tank with fluval question
Starting a new JBJ 28g Nano and I am going to use a Fluval 204 for filtration in addition to the Live Rock and Sand of course. It has 3 chambers and the sponge and i was going to use Chemi Pure Elite, Purigen and Phosban. Do I use all 3 now or wait on any of the above until the tank cycles? If I wait, what would I wait on and when do I place in the filter? In what order should I place them in the filter? I also have filter floss to fill any spaces if needed.
P.S. - Should I remove the 3 chamber filter on the back of the JBJ since I will be using the Fluval for filtration? It would give me room for a future Aquamaxx HOB-1 Thanks |

Wait until it cycles unless you have high phosphates. You'll get many responses of what to use or not use. If you don't overstock and clean it often you can run it you anyway you want. I use mine with the mechanical media ( sponge ) to get the poo out so I can remove it when i clean the filter. Carbon when needed. I use bio balls - but I can( low bio load ). Most will say use it as a reactor and use it for chemical media and let your l.r. Act as your bio filter.
I don't know about jbj but a skimmer never hurts. |

I would suggest you don't use it at all, live rock, flow and a skimmer is all you need for mainstray biological filtration in a marine tank, you could always add a reactor for chemical filtration at a later date when you need to, depending on your livestock, you may never need it.
