Refugium opinions wanted!
I recently built a sump for my 60 gallon DT using a 30 gal breeder. I used many threads and researched this site for my design. I would like any opinions on my refugium. I currently have flow diverted to the refugium which I can control. The center chamber is the return. I currently have 5# LR rubble and Cheato in the refugium. The refugium section is about 10 gallons. I decided against sand. Any thoughts on hour to improve on this?

Looks good, personally I dont care for rubble. Every once in a while it is good to clean out the crap that settles in the fuge, if you have several larger pieces it is easy to just use a power head or turkey baster to blow around the rocks and get everything kicked up. with rubble it is a little more labor intensive to clean. Also with the low flow that most fuges have, it is hard to get water moving thru all that rubble, with several larger pieces centrally placed it is easier to make sure there is no dead spots. But Rubble can work, so dont take this as me saying your system wont work, there is just a few downsides that you have to keep an eye on. Also if there is a way for the light to be angled away fro the rest of the sump, it will help prevent nuisance algae from growing on everything else like your skimmer and such.

Thanks Donkeykong! I have already started to notice some algae on the side of the skimmer. I am going to try to hang the light directly above to point straight down or even angle away from the sump. Thanks for the input!
