Branching purple hammer placement

Where's the best placement for a branching hammer to thrive? Does it need to be in the sand to grow properly or can I epoxy the branch into a hole in one of my rocks and still get nice results. I keep moving it around and think it's starting to get upset.

Tank is a 90 gallon with 2 175 watt MH lighting.

I wouldnt put it on the sand as sand particles can get into the heads, causing agitation which can lead to death. You can epoxy into holes in the rocks with no problems. Ive done it tons of times. They do need light aclimation though. If theyre down low, dont go putting them directly under your mh's. I have had some directly under mh's, but they need some good time acclimating to that light intensity.

I have mine on the first rock right off the sand. It's slightly shaded and doing very well. Moderate indirect flow. 2x250w radiums.

This is the second placement. The flow didnt seem good enough so I moved it one last time and suck it in the rocks in the bottom 1/3 of the tank in a little higher flow area.

I'll post a picture of the 3rd and final spot tomorrow
