Reef Savvy Build

This is my first saltwater tank. I will try to keep this updated with pictures and comments.

Stats:
Tank dimension = 36x24x16 ~ 60 gallons ~ Reef Savvy Rimless
Sump - Trigger System Ruby 30 gal
Top Off - Tunze Osmolator Universal 3155
Skimmer - Avast Marine CS-1
Skimmer assesories - Avast Marine Swabbie and Davie Jones Skimmate Locker
Lighting - Apollo Reef LED Solar Blast Dimable
Stand - custom built
Flow- MP10W ES (may add another MP10Wes or change out to MP40)
Return Pump - Eheim 1260
Controller - Apex Lite

Side comment: Two vendors in particular that I worked with over the Thanksgiving Day specials were Avast Marine and Apollo. Both were excellent to work with. Answered many questions of mine very quickly and were very accommodating. Two thumbs up. Had an issue with an item (will discuss later) with TB Aquatics - they too took good care of me right away.

Here are the Apollo Solarbalst LEDs. These require a controller to operate. I hope to have the plumbing on the tank done next week and then will work on setting up the Apex.

Do you have the extra neptune lighting controller? The apex lite will not control this to my knowledge. It must have a 1-10v output such as the apex has. I'm sure you have thought of this, just pointing it out.

Yes, thanks austin - I did get the VDM module for the Apex. In hindsight, I should have just gotten the full Apex version. At the time I bought the Lite, I was planning on ATI T-5 lighting.

How thick is that glass? I too have a reef savvy tank, 36x18x16 with 1/2" thick glass and was unable to go with an mp10 due to glass thickness.

Odd I have seen a post of someone using 2 mp 10's on 1/2 inch glass . They stated it worked fine if the spacer was not used . I don't remember a spacer on an mp 10 I had in the past . Just a thought . ..

Glass is 1/2" thick. You can use mp10's on 1/2" thick glass, you just have to be careful. It's rated for 3/8" max, but it will hold on 1/2" - just make sure you use the clips to hold the power cord in case it gets bumped so it doesn't hit the ground.

Some have claimed it has worked and others say no. I didn't want to spend the money on something that might not work.

I have no doubt that it will hold when off but wait till you ramp it up to get enough flow. That is when you might see the issues
