Using plants as nutrient export

I noticed a lot of people using mangrove as a nutrient export. Can one use other plants such as bamboo for a similar purpose?

common bamboo isn't a saltwater plant, it will likely either not grow, or die in a saltwater aquarium

you can, however, use a variety of saltwater plants and algae to export nutrients; just be careful in choosing the plants so they do not spread uncontrollably, interfere with your other organisms, or die off and add that many more nutrients to your tank
