Apex Float Switch Help Please!

Hi Everyone,
I'm having trouble getting my float switches working the way I want with the Apex I/O breakout box. I attached a picture of the configuration. What I'm trying to do is set the float on the left (switch1), which is at the proper water level in the sump, to turn on when the sump needs water, and turn off when the sump no longer needs water. I also have a fail safe float installed upside down (switch2) which I want to turn off the pump if switch1 fails. When I tested this setup switch1 turns on the pump correctly but then the pump stays on even after the float (switch1) returns to the open position. Switch2 did not turn off the pump as expected and the water level rose above both floats until I yanked the pump plug out of the outlet. Please take a look at my code:

Fallback OFF
Set OFF
If Switch1 CLOSED Then ON
Defer 000:10 Then ON
If Switch2 CLOSED Then OFF

Those floats can be configured as desired by removing the little clip on the bottom, removing the float, rotating it 180 deg, and re-assembling. They are typically configured to be CLOSED when DOWN. It seems the inverted one has been reversed. I like to use virtual outlets for float switches. It allows them to be given meaningful names, you can watch the status, and it makes it easier to test.

Plus one on the virtual outlets. Create some and play with the switches some, you will see the outlet turn on or off instantly.
