Apex Lite & Finnex 300 Watt Heater Only

I just hooked up a Finnex 300W titanium heater element to my Apex Lite Energy Bar 8 outlet. The heater element does not have its own controller as I've read really mixed reviews about the Finnex controllers.

I'm using the default settings on the Apex for the heater and my actinic chiller and the heating element is in the pump side of my sump and my temp/ph probes are in the sock side of my sump. I figure this way the return water will be most indicative of what's in the tank.

My concern is that the Finnex, without its own controller, may be left "ON" if the Apex controller fails. Is this something I should be concerned about? If so, how does one mitigate that concern?

I see that, from the Finnex literature/diagram, that there's a "temperature sensing area" on the unit and that it has a "safety feature...equiped with a built-in temperature sensing switch"...Will this shut off the heater at some sensed temperature???

Starting your program with "Fallback OFF" will cause the heater to turn off if communication is lost between the EB8 and the base.

Thanks. Seems that is the default setting so I guess I'm ok!
