Questions...Long winded sorry.
Hi all,
About 4-5 weeks ago, my area experianced a pretty bad storm system that knocked out my power for about 5 days, during the outage the temperatures rose to 100+F. outside. Fortunately i do have a generator and was able to keep limited power, small a/c, lights, tv, fridge and my 8gal Biocube. Unfortunately i was unable to move my tank into my bedroom where the a/c was, and lost everything, "Happy" my clownfish, and several hermits. The tank has been up and running close to 4 yrs prior to this happening, and my clown has spent most of that time in the tank so i was really sad to lose him. Anyways, 5 week later i havent done anything to the tank beside remove "Happy", and have kept the pump running, all the algae had also died, (i always have algae for some reason no matter what i do). This morning i decided to check out the water conditions just to see how they were, and everything tested good, PH 8.0 ish, Phosphate .25, Nitrate 0, Nitrite 0. I went ahead and did a 50% water change as well. Also, there was a peanut worm that must have crawled out of the rocks during the outage and has disappeared, im hoping he actually wasnt dead and has found his way back in to the rocks. The appearance of the tank looks great and there is no foul water smell as there was the day after the power came back on. Does anyone think i should try adding hermits or a fish now, or should i just start completely over? Sorry this is long, just trying to be thorough with my problem. Thanks in advance. |
