Warner marine mf121 with start up issues

I just got my mf121 in and I'm having trouble getting the pump going. The needle wheel twitches and the pump makes a light buzzing sound but won't go. I tried taking it apart and everything looks fine, I also tried blowing in the airline (I read that somewhere) and still nothing. It has the new needle wheel. Is the pump no good or am I missing something? Anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same issue with mine that I bought used. It has the new needle wheel as well. I ended up calling Jon Warner and he sent me a rebuilt pump, which has been working fine. Still, I try not to turn it off, except when it's cleaning time. The ES2000 pump can be finicky, more so than the other Eden pumps. Give Jon a call, he will take care of you....great guy!

I think it's a bad impeller, not the pump. I received the gen 2 impeller from Skimz last year for an ES2000 pump. The first impeller I got from them had start up issues. They sent a new on that didn't "stick" when it turns and reaches it's limit. That impeller never failed to start a single time. It was perfect. I recently bought another ES2000 pump for a different skimmer. This one I got from Jon Warner with the gen 2 impeller. It had a few start up problems too, and I noticed the "sticking" problem that I had seen before. They've now released a gen 3 impeller which has been 100% perfect on start up for me.

Also, you might want to check that the impeller spins freely on the shaft. Is it brand new or used? It's possible for it to get enough calcium deposits to fuse the shaft to the impeller. If this happens, the pump can still run but it can have difficulty with start up.

I also had a gen 2 with start-up issues and it was replaced with the latest (ceramic shaft and stepped pins on the impeller). I have had no start-up issues and the skimmer is performing great. Jon at Warner Marine is very helpfull.

Thanks every one for the replies. I sent a message to Jon and he's going to send me the gen 3 impeller next week. I just haven't been able to get this thing going at all. Hopefully I can get it going so I'm not with out a skimmer for a week.
