choosing sand
hey every one im having a really hard time finding the sand im looking for. i was wondering if any one had any suggestions. im looking for sugar sand. i found it on a couple websites but its on back order. so i was wondering if any one could offer any suggestions as to were i can get some or what i could use in its place. i want a small grain. i no there is alot of controversy over it but it is what i want to use.

hey thanks for the suggestions. i will look into them. i should also note im in canada so i have to make sure any site i order from can ship to canada at a reasonable price. i dont have any local marine stores persay. there is one that can order most stuff in. but when i asked for sugar sand they orders something completely different and it wasn't what i was looking for.

I have heard of people using play sand from the harware store should be easy to get

The petsmart near me sells #30 sugar fine aragonite for $19.99
I would avoid the playsand - it is (usually) silica based, and therefore diatom bloom prone, it also has very sharp edges so most sand sifters don't really like it. Sure, it is cheap, but at least IMHO, you get what you pay for.

I like the Fiji pink live sand. It is pretty fine. Can get from just about anywhere.

thanks for the links. ya im definitely going to pass on play sand. here were i am its all man made any way so not reef safe.
