Just installed RO/DI unit. What storage container should I get?

I just installed A 50 gallon per day 4 Stage Ro/DI unit in my basement. Where can I pick up a good storage container. And does it have to be a brute Trashcan if I go that route? Thanks for any input .

Everything I have read you need to make sure it is at food grade standards. That way it will not leach anything and will be able to handle the weight load.

Doesn't have to be a Brute trashcan, but they are heavy duty and cheap. Like Worm said just make sure it's food grade.

I wouldn't buy it unless you know for sure it's labeled as food grade. The last thing you want is for it to start leaching chemicals into your RO/DI. Rhis is the one I use Ina 32 gallon model. It would be a good idea to put it on a stand or a few cinder blocks if you aren't using a pump to pump out the water.

The roughnecks handle are easier to rip off. Also check out old bulk food storage. There's a company here in San Diego that sells 50 gal containers that were used to ship olives, banana peppers, pickles, and other stuff that's kept wet til used. I picked up three for $20/each. GL.

I just got it installed and running. Right now I am filling up a 5 gallon bucket to see how long it takes and if the GPD are close. The manual I have does not say what The Psi is suppose to be does anyone know if You have too much or to little PSI will the unit still work right.

I use 5 gallon water jugs from home depot. They are easyto carry / safe and the girl that sells them there is hot. Works on both levels.

Do you need to add anything to your RO/DI water besides salt when doing water changes? I see that they sell stuff to add to Your RO/DI water?

If you can, have a salt water mixing tub big enough to fill your QT - that way if you have an emergency in your DT, you can quickly fill your QT and have it running while you sort out the issue in your DT.

I keep my qt tank running at all times. When I buy a fish he goes in there for 6 weeks. If needed I will set up a hospital tank. As far as storing the RO/DI water do I need an airstone or anything to keep the water moving? Or is it fine just sitting in a tub for days?

What size is the storage for your RO? If it's only a 5gal, I wouldn't worry about it. I have (2) 44gal Brute's on mine. One is RO for the top off, the other is saltwater mix. In that bin I have a heater and a mag 9 pump recirculating water.

It wouldn't hurt to at least put a power head in there to keep things stirred up.

Sounds good .. Thanks for the help. If you are storing the water with no salt in it would you still use something to keep the water moving?
