Curing rock in tubs
I have had some rock curing and going through its cycle in a tote out in my garage for the past couple of weeks. I have kept the lid on the tote to help prevent evaporation. Should I remove it so the rock gets natural light? Should I add a tank light on a timer? I've already gone through the initial ammonia spike and NO2 and NO3 are through the roof as of a couple days ago....gotta check parameters here in a few minutes (good excuse to go have a beer in the garage!).
So.....no light? Natural light? Or tank light? What say you??

Took you long enough.....I had to keep cracking beers out there staring at the tub waiting for a response! ;-)
Thanks!

As of day 11 of my cycle.....
Ammonia: 0.5 Nitrites: 2 Nitrates: 40 NO2 has dropped a little in the past 3 days. Hard to tell if NO3 was 80 or 40 last time, but its 40 today. Hopefully picking up the 90 tank next week. Got my lights today and DIY sump should be next week too. Then its time for water!

Sounds like your just ahead of me in the rock curing process, Ammonia and Nitrite are at 0.25, Nitrites just started spiking today finally, Nitrates are still at 0. Been 3 weeks, but I started out with old dead live rock, so had to go through the dying off process before the cycle would begin. Already got the tank cycling so hopefully they'll both be ready at about the same time.
