Bio - spira
I have just used BIO-SPIRA about 3 days ago. All my levels are where they need to be, but should I do a 50% water change before I add a clean up crew?

Really need more info. How long have you been running now? Have you seen any spikes in your parameters? What do u have for filtration ? If you just set up a tank 3 days ago and added bio spira then your answer is No.

Yes, you can. The Bio-Spira will need food, poop, etc. to consume, if you want it to live.

tank has be up for about 2 weeks. I saw a spike in ammonia, then nitrite, always had about 20ppm nitrate.
My ammonia and nitrite never went fully away so I added BIO-SPIRA. Levels are looking good now; A:0,Nitrite: 0, Nitrate: 20ppm. Should I do a water change, because usually you only do this to cut down on nitrates, right? |

I would wait a few days to a week. I would bet your tank may have gone through a mini cycle and the bio spira is just making it look like you are done. I am not a fan of "miracle potions" during the cycle for that reason... you just cant tell what the right results are.
My advice is to grab a single shrimp from a cocktail platter (I do not encourage stealing), toss it in and have patience. When all your patience is through, and your results look good I then would recommend to test your patience limits...and wait another 2 weeks until you are 100% sure your tank is cycled before adding fish. Think of it this way... would you jump into a swimming pool of raw sewage before it was completely treated? |
