coral diversity

Can LPS and Soft be maintained in the same tank? I read that the softs can be toxic to the stonies but that was all it said My tank is LPS but I would like to get a green toadstool, kenya tree, yellow and cabbage. I have a 4' 4 bulb flourecense light over a75 gallon. The lps are growing like crazy but I don't want to hurt either type by adding them if it's not a good mix.

I know zoas & palys when they are upset let out a chemical reaction. Maybe someone else with more experience can chime in. Check out the corals you're looking for on LA & compare them to what you have to see if they're compatible. I would say if the corals are peaceful you should be fine but definitely give everyone enough space.

I found the compatibility chart but it was for fish only. Anyone keep these 2 types of coral together?

I've kept LPS corals along with softies in the same tank for many years without any problems. As far as chemical warfare goes, it's nothing that regular water changes and carbon can't take care of.

I keep LPS and softies, try it out and if you see one showing signs of stress, move it a little farther or out of being downstream of current

You just have to watch how close you put everything. Alot of LPS have long stinging tenticles that come out at night.

It's more a matter of making sure the tank environment is compatible to all the corals you have. Some corals require strong lighting and others need low levels of light. Some need strong current flow and others like it more peaceful. Whether LPS, SPS, or soft corals/polyps, it's more important that their environmental needs are compatible than whether they are "compatible with each other."
