Anemone spitting mucus!?
I have a purple tipped white anemone. Recently I was trying to move my Tiger Cowrie because he was very close to the anemone and sort of brushed my anemone.
He immediately spit a clear/white mucus into my tank. I tried fishing it out with my net and a toothbrush, but some of it is still stuck to my filter and my live rock. It literally looks like clear snot.... what is this? Is it bad for my fish? Easiest way to remove? |

Whatever it is, if it doesn't dissolve on it's own in a day, a safe bet would be to siphon it out and do a water change and monitor your water conditions and the general health of your inhabitants. A strong guess is it was a defensive discharge and likely harmless.

I got most of it out with my net... just wanted to make sure it won't hurt anything else.

My rose tipped bubble anemone used to do this every few weeks. I figured it was just regurgitating whatever waste was left over from eating. I could be wrong about that though.
