Light Fixture Type and Shimmer

I have a T5 fixture with 4 LEDs for night (moon) lighting and I have noticed that I have a lot of shimmer in the tank when only the LEDs are running but none when the T5s are on. I assume if you have a full LED fixture you get the same effect all of the time. Do Metal Halides create the same shimmer effect?

Thanks!
Pat

My guess would be the T-5's are overpowering the LED making the shimmer no longer visable. I dont run LED lighting but I believe they do produce some shimmer, that said, MH lighting will give plenty of shimmer.
