My Biocube 29
I'm currently 3 weeks in my cycling my Biocube29. Its been fun getting an Astrea Starfish, seeing one Isopod, a million Copepods, my tank turning brown with this ugly stuff called Diatom Algae, and now, Green Hair Algae on top of the Diatom. I love looking at everyone's pictures of their beautiful reef tanks and then I look at mine and its just so...brown. My tank was set up with 25lbs Live Sand, 30lbs Live Rock (& 7lbs of rubble in the back chamber), and RO/DI salt water. My ammonia hasn't spiked, Nitrites are zero, and just a trace of Nitrates. I added a pair of clowns a week ago and still no change to the water. I figured I'd wait another week, have no idea how long this Green Hair will be in there, but maybe add a CUC and see how that goes.
Even though my tank is far from beautiful, I love it! Don't really know what I'm doing, a lot of reading, and asking questions in hopes I too will have an awesome reef. I will take whatever advise, tips, suggestions, on what my next step is or what I may encounter next. Thanks in advance! Scott |

Your tank sounds like it has already cycled you probably just had a minor one with the established rock and sand. You can add a cuc then fish if all is ok with the Cuc.
