Need help concrete blocks! just picked up 130lb cured rocks
just picked up 130lb cured fiji live rock off someone from craigslist for .75 a lbs!
Anyways, i noticed there were algae on the rock along with purple coralline, I'm using these rocks to seed my base dry rock. Are the algae going to be an issue? Also, noticed he had Landscaping (concrete) Blocks in his tank. I dont think this will hurt the rocks I got from him since he had corals thriving in there for 5 years? I didnt take the blocks, only the live rocks. Just curious if the live rocks are negatively impacted by the concrete blocks. "Made from conventional dense concrete, these solid CMU blocks are suitable for equipment pads, edging, raised beds, and many other applications. Our three component paver consists of blocks that are 3" thick and have dimensions of 6" x 6", 6" x 9", and 3"x 6". Laid together they form a 9" x 12" rectangle" THe rocks are currently sitting in a brute trash can filled with rodi salt water with power head. Will be working on the tank tomorrow AM! Thanks! The coraline will die off . It should smell like the ocean if cured , then i would give it a good rinse in ro water for no more then 1 minute before adding in display tank.

The concrete blocks are bacteria heavens. I would see no ill effect from useing them. Not sure what chemicals would leech out. But not from manufacturing.

yea i would def take off all the non coralline algae..i put in a couple small rocks with just a little hair algae on my tank figuring the crabs/snails would prob eat it...boy was i wrong i had a bloom of hair algae that im still working on curbing every day i just brush a little let the powerheads catch it then clean off the powerheads seems like im catching up to fixing the problem but have a little ways to go still....also can't believe noone commented yet, 75 cents a lb for live rock, i wish i could find a deal like that
