New to MARS
Hey everyone!
I'm Alex, I live in Davis and am new to reefing as of this year. I have a 12 gallon nano cube mixed reef that was established in May and has now outgrown itself so I'm in the middle of a 20 long build with 10g sump. I'm happy to have finally found a club close by, as so far I've felt like the only one with a reef tank in Davis! What's the best way for me to get involved with this group? I saw there's a meeting tomorrow and a frag swap next month... although I don't have any profound corals to trade.. just the usual beginner stuff. I look forward to getting to know you all and learning more about reefing in this area! |

Come to the meeting tomorrow night. There are quite a few reefers in the Davis/Woodland area.

Welcome to the addiction sounds like you have a great start.
Miracles is right if you can make it to the meeting they have a speaker this month. Copied from their post (sorry Brian) This month Peter Wainwright will be presenting on the subject of reef fish feeding. Peter is the Chair of the Department of Evolution and Ecology at the University of California, Davis, and comes highly recommended from our sister club, SAS. See the MARS events page for location details. Agenda... 7:00-7:15: Club Business 7:15-7:30: General Q&A 7:30-9:00: Incredible Diversity in Reef Fish Feeding 9:00-9:30: Raffle Also they have a couple of great raffle grand prizes along with other prizes for the raffle I think raffle tickets are $1 each or 25 for $20 and new comers always seem to have great luck I won my first time out. Here is the link http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=2215247 Have fun and Happy Reefing !!!!!

Thank you all for the warm welcomes! I'm going to try to make it to the meeting tonight, but I won't be able to stay for the lecture . However, I'll get to meet you all so it will be worth the trip .

Well I drove out to Folsom Friday night, looking for the round table. I stopped to ask directions from someone and eventually found a round table. It must've been the wrong round table, however, because I waited for 20 minutes and no meeting started up . I think I found where I went wrong though, hopefully next time I'll be able to make the drive worth it.

That sucks. The round-table is on Madison close to greenback. There is more than one in Folsom. Easiest way for you would be get off hwy 50 at hazel go down to Madison and turn right. Its on the left
