New FOWLR tank
I'm thinking about setting up a 300 gallon FOWLR tank and looking for some input on species selection. I have a general idea of which fish I'm interested in but I don't know the specific species too well or whether they can coexist well? Also will this be a large enough tank? Here's what I'm thinking:
Pufferfish Shark StingRay Pinnatus Batfish Harlequin Tuskfish Eel I'm relatively new to the hobby so I appreciate the input! |

that particular batfish is very difficult to keep, not recommended for beginners. The only fish from your list i would say are good for bginners are the tusk, puffer, and eel. Even then you have to remember that some eels and puffers get huge. Its not uncommon for a new fish keeper to come home with a eel that gets 8-9 feet long, or a puffer that gets to be 2-3 feet. Sharks and stingrays need tanks catered to thier needs and do not allow people to keep alot of fish they really want. If i were you i would stick with the eel, puffer, tuskfish idea and some other fish to the mix. Maybe some angels, tangs, damsels, etc.

Don't mix a shark and stingray with a puffer (or angels or triggers). Those types of fish will pick at the sharks and rays, especially the eyes, eventually killing the shark/ray.

Welcome to the hobby! As mentioned, your list is terribly incompatible. Bob Fenner has some pretty good beginner basic resources for fish selection on Wet Web Media. I would highly recommend you look up all your favorites there, to get an idea of what can be kept with what, and their general care requirements...
